Thanks, Cheri! I painted this while the Caldor Fire was burning near Lake Tahoe, one of several California megafires that burned during the historic 2021 fire season. It was horrifying to see so much damage and I was especially concerned about a family in South Tahoe that I know. Thankfully, their home and property were spared. Tahoe is so gorgeous...that is so awesome that you grew up there!

A lovely haiku and prescient sentiment. My state of Oregon has fires every summer, usually caused by careless humans. My former home, Nevada, particularly Lake Tahoe, where I grew up, has been seriously threatened by fire. Fortunately, controlled burns have eliminated fuel that would otherwise feed the fires, and made them easier to put out.
